PELARGONIUM papilionaceum Species Pelargonium. Profuse pink flowers with dark purple central mark and white basal blotch. Upper petals are large and pronounced, lower petals barely significant. The unusual flower shape gives this species its name of 'butterfly like'. April-Oct. Huge, dark green, strongly lemon scented leaves. Easily established into a large plant and happy overwintering in a conservatory or greenhouse. Ht. 150cm. Sp. 80cm. A favourite at Woottens. Pelargonium group. Aiton. Cultivated since 1724 in the Chelsea Physic Garden. In the wild it grows in South Western and Southern Cape Province.
