Many species are included in this category including Iris unguicularis. Winter flowering Irises are both bulbous, Iris reticulata, and rhizomatous. Rhizomatous forms include Iris lazica and its hybrids and Iris unguicularis (formerly known as Iris stylosa or Algerian Iris) and its hybrids. Iris lazica is a  good evergreen plant and happy in a part shade position whereas Iris unguicularis requires a warm sunny spot and little disturbance. Both flower from November to March. Iris reticulatas are bulbs and are best planted as carpets under deciduous trees or in little containers for admiring in the winter. They flower from February to March.
