There are almost 300 different Iris species distributed across the globe, predominantly in the Northern Hemisphere. Other species we grow at the nursery are Iris foetidissima, one of just two native Iris in the UK. Iris tuberosa also known as the Widow Iris, Iris tectorum or Japanese roof Iris and other Crested Iris species. Iris chrysographes is a beautiful black Iris in the Siberian Iris group, although it originates from Southern China and Myanmar. It is quite distinctively different from is geographical neighbour Iris confusa, or Bamboo Iris, native to Western China and has small crested white to lavender blue flowers.
