Eye pattern Hemerocallis have either a dark centre, a solid circular ‘eye’, or a soft halo of a different colour around the throat of the flower. The petals are usually a paler colour with the eye being a bold dark colour.  They give interest within the mixed border and are easy to compliment with other perennials. Often the colour of the ‘throat’ is also described, the throat being the central part of the flower. Sometimes it’s a rich yellow, other times a vibrant lime green.  Spider forms of Hemerocallis with ‘eye patterns’ have a much more chevron shape to the markings, giving a star like appearance from a distance
