The Border auricula once said to be the ‘lesser’ of all the groups, has a much more subtle appearance with softer edges and unclear lines, almost like a pastel drawing delicately smudged onto paper.
The petals are mainly one colour with a pale eye. This group often have shorter stems and 3-5 pips per truss. Although they can be grown in the garden, we prefer these to be displayed in pots. Some border varieties have a close resemblance to the native primrose and its hybrids.
