Woottens of Wenhaston is a traditional plant nursery that specialises in Herbaceous Perennials and grows some of the largest collections of Iris, Auricula, Pelargonium and Hemerocallis in the UK. Established 25 years ago by Michael Loftus the nursery has grown it’s collections from scratch and cares for some of the rarest species and historic plants available today.
The nursery is run by a small team of dedicated and knowledge staff that worked alongside Michael for many years.
All our plants are grown at the nursery which is situated in rural Suffolk between the popular towns of Southwold and Halesworth.
Our herbaceous perennial collection encompasses over 500 different varieties of plants which are grown into 1.5 or 2 litre pots and cared for by one of the nursery owners, Gillian on a daily basis. Almost 80% of these plants are still propagated on site with a small proportion bought in mainly from UK growers.
Our Primula auricula collection consists of over 400 different varieties grown in 9cm pots that have been propagated and tended to by our expert grower, Sandra for over 20 years.
Woottens very rare Pelargonium collection is cared for by Julie who also grows the nurseries Salvia and Chrysanthemum plants. This hands on approach means all plants we sell are grown and maintained by passionate plants people and monitored on a daily basis to ensure that they are well grown specimens that are true to form.
The Nursery is open every Saturday between March and October for viewing and sales and for the first weekend of each month during this period.
